PostSubject: Cyberwarfare   Wed Jun 27, 2012 4:41 pm

I've been tossed into to a information war, and the other side is playing dirty (threats of violence).

Before you start, the threats are vague, so it's unlikely that the cops will bother.

I could just show up it the cons doors and say somehitng like "so this is where you live", but I prefere to wrestle to my own rules.

So, is anybody here good enough to leave a message for them on their webpage?

Are you asking for someone to break into their website and deface it? If so, this is akin to asking a RLSH to spray-paint a message on their garage door.

It's illegal, and not very superhero-like.

However, I love a good piece of gossip. I'd love to hear details of why you want to graffiti up their website. Shocked

And...there may be creative and legal ways to play around with them. Give us the details.

1st off it will help if you post the link to their site. If you are going to muck about with it for any reason you need to know what variation of HTML they are using and what system they are running. Lynx Unix or windows being the main 3 systems used on web sites and servers. It will also be helpful to see if they are using any kind of a redirect like a U.R.L forwarder masker. With this information you will know how to deal with the site including setting it up for a denial of service by their provider among other things. But before starting any kind of cyber war it would be best to know what you have that may be open to reprisal. Id start with a port check on all your stuff including any site or server you might have along with an IP checker. For your convenience I have included links to both below. I hope this helps. Running my own server I’ve had to learn to deal with crap like this.

Superman

http://whatismyipaddress.com << will give you the physical location of any IP what kind of connection it is and the name and address of the provider.

http://www.grc.com/intro.htm << when you run shields up will show you what ports are open on your computer so you can protect yourself from intrusion

http://hidemyass.com << easy to use web proxy so your incursions aren’t traced directly back to you.

Or you could just send a html based email with a background script that uploads and runs the vsdsrv32 hostageware trojan that encrypts all their porn, jpg, txt, doc, html and .js files on their attached drives.

The attached message can read "I found out where you live. I've copied some of your files right from your computer and encrypted all the important crap (EVEN YOUR PORN). Leave well enough alone, now!"

I know it's not very hero-like. But it'll show you mean business. But like you stated before, if you know where they are, a simple knock on the door will suffice. I like simple and direct myself.

Just...stop it, guys. Seriously. Purposely sending them destructive malware? Creating a DoS via their service provider? You are talking about state and federal felonies here, and easily investigated ones (even if you use a proxy).

Equal, come back and tell us about how you've been wronged and what you know about the group. We'll come up with something fun and legal.

More in the line of changing the text on the page into something closer to the truth. I don't find it like spray painting a message on their garage door, it's more like helping them paint it.

I have no problem finding out where they live (it's a registred company), but I'm not going darkside on this. It's an information war, so I'll stick to information.

If anybody is intrested, give me a PM and I'll give enough details for you to decide if you want to help.

Oh yeah - and not that I'm advocating any of this monkey business, but hidemyass.com was recently used in a hack, and when they received a subpoena, they handed the authorities their customer list and logs on a silver platter. FYI.

Not only is this not a secret or hidden web site (making discussion of illegal activities a goofy thing to do), but it's also against the rules to advocate breaking the law or give "how to" instructions on breaking the law... etc etc.

So don't.

You wouldn't have to subpoena this -- you could just access it openly.

Toggle's got a point. But I still want more information. Who is this that's doing this, Equal? Name a person and a website for us, and stop making us guess. If they're committing slander, libel or making threats, than it's already a legal issue. If it's simple sandbox dickery, then who cares?

I'd expect the mods to start banning people for this very obvious violation of forum rules any time now. By the by, I looked up my own IP address using one of those links and it wasn't even close to correct.

Gentlemen,

What I have in mind is neither illegal nor outrageous. IP addresses are fairly easy to find especially if you are posting on a board. Any time you make a post said board has the IP you make it from. Not that any admin there is being snoopy. It’s built into board software. Just ask them. Once you have the offending IP you can cross reference it on line and get the name of the provider along with said providers address, e mail and telephone number. All of this is easily and legally available for free and a matter of public record, if you know where and how to look. While you may not be able to tell which particular customer of that provider is using that IP to cause trouble, You best better believe that said provider can and does keep just such records. One big reason they do is so they can protect themselves from idiots using their services for illegal activities. So if you know of Illegal or suspicious activity of any kind including threats and bring proper evidence of it to the provider they will investigate and if it’s true deny further service to said client putting them out of business. While I can only hazard a guess I bet they cooperate among themselves in some manner so the miscreant can’t just switch providers to continue their crimes. This applies to all USA based providers and those in most countries. The only exceptions would be providers based in outlaw foreign countries that have no extradition treaty with us and are also unfriendly to the USA. In an extreme case like this a RLSH type with mad computer skills might be tempted to go vigilante. Frankly I don’t have any reason or the skills for that matter to be such a vigilante myself. But I’d be willing to bet that someone out there can.

Yes... all the mods could look up people's IP addresses for each post easily. I don't think most of us do that... I mean, why? But the board does capture them.

Also so far nobody has seriously made a plan to do something illegal here -- as far as I can tell. Please continue to not make illegal plans.

Don't you have something better to do? If you want to be a RLSH, being bored is not an option. Go learn something in your free time...
