There was an old strongman in the early 1920s (Earle Liederman). He wrote that people should have enough fitness to essentially save their lives. He then came up with the following five fitness benchmarks:
1/2 mile swim
200 yard run, at full sprint speed
Ability to jump over waist-high objects
These are pretty tough, but do-able.
What do you all think? Are there any fitness benchmarks you try to measure yourself against?
